Ceramident has established itself as a premium laboratory in Africa and was one of the first laboratories to explore the digital era. In so doing we have gained years of experience and have been able to master this skill. Every department within the lab is made up of highly trained technicians with many years of experience. We are truly are a family, and express a family feeling as a result.

our team

a word from our founder

Ceramident was established in April 1 1980. At that time most dental laboratories were general laboratories involved in multiple fields of work. The era of specialist type laboratories was on the rise, and there was a real need for a specialist dental lab in the Stellenbosch, Somerset West and Strand area.

The vision for my laboratory was to always stay abreast with all the new developments in our profession. That meant investing in the latest equipment and materials, embracing the latest techniques and employing quality people. I also wanted a pleasant work environment for our team, thus I invested in what I believe to be a great modern workspace with a relaxed atmosphere.

Ceramident has increased its footprint throughout South Africa, into Africa and beyond. I am proud of what we have built at Ceramident and am extremely confident in the team now lead by Michael Lazarevic who is continuing this exciting journey into the future.

Michael has been part of Ceramident for 13 years and in 2020 took over the reigns from his Mentor and great friend Guido Dingemans. He is a ceramist by day father by night. Married to Theresa, they have 2 boys, James and Dylan. When not working Michael enjoys SUP, the occasional round of golf and cooking, especially curry and braai.

Walter Daniels

I have been working at Ceramident for 38 years and counting. It feels like a lifetime but I’ve loved every minute working at this laboratory. I see every case as a new challenge and this is what I love. Creating a smile from nothing, especially a full implant case. The new digital age is very exciting.

Shani van Geems

Laboratory Manager

I started my career at Ceramident in February 2001. Working at Ceramident has always been a pleasure, through good and bad times we always get through it all. Wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.

Shannon Petersen

Plaster room support & driver

I have been working for the company for 2.5 years and what I like about working for Ceramident is the fact that every day is a challenge. Ensuring we meet deadlines and delivering work on time to the dentists. I like the environment I work in, colleagues designing their outcomes best and always going the extra mile. I like the team I am working with. I don’t have any dislikes. I try to always see the best in every situation and make the best of it.

Edré Reynecke

Plaster Room Support & Driver

I joined the Ceramident team 4 years ago. I work in the plaster room and and do the driving. I like the fact that everything starts with us and that we prepare the models for the technicians to start working on. I strive to be on time with all my work.

Stefanie, or better known as Stef, is our “youngest” laboratory crew member, having joined Ceramident in January of 2023. Stef qualified as dental technician from the Tshwane University of Technology in 2009. She is originally from Gauteng and is it where she spent most of the next 14 years gaining much knowledge and skill from various organisations in the dental trade. While working for one of SA’s leading dental suppliers she was introduced to GC products which reawakened her passion for the available products, technical advances, and services in our industry.

“The family culture and attention to details, is what drew me to be part of Ceramident’s amazing team. I can already understand why its been established for almost 40 years. It’s a family eager to help and teach. Here’s to 40 more years…”

Tanielle Meyer

Technologist

I have had the privilege of starting my career as a dental technician at Ceramident in 2022. It has been a very steep learning curve and every day presents a different challenge. I am so grateful to be able to learn from some of the best technicians in the industry and have access to the latest developments in digital dentistry. Even during the busy, stressful times, we always have a laugh at the end of the day as a Ceramident family.

The voice on the other side of the line and the one that makes sure the quotes, invoices and statements go out on time.  Nicky never officially applied to work at Ceramident, but boy are we glad she showed up on our doorstep just more than 5 years ago.  Nicky loves working at Ceramident because it is like a family and not only a job.  Away from the laboratory Nicky is a keen gamer and loves spending time with her two Dachshunds, Dobby and Milo.
